HOMELESS SCAM ALERT: Each of the 15 (!) Lawyers on Homeless Case Charging City $1300 an Hour

City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto hired a top outside law firm to defend her in lawsuit accusing city of failing to mitigate disgusting and dangerous conditions in local homeless camps. Now this firm is bilking the city by charging it hourly partner rates–even for their junior associates. Hey, why not? It's not Hydee's money, so who cares?

As the number of homeless people doing drugs and living in filthy on city streets increases, you’d think the City would spend its money on getting them into rehab and cleaning the trash-strewn thoroughfares. Instead, the City is happily paying enormous legal fees to defend it in a case against the L.A. Alliance for Human Rights, “which sued in 2020 over unsafe and unsanitary conditions in homeless encampments.”

Who authorized City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto to hire Gibson, Dunn to defend her for her own woeful incompetence? Was that you, Mayor Bass? What kind of racket are you people running?

Congratulations, Los Angeles: you’re getting exactly what you voted for!
