Is the tree on stolen lands too?
The annual lighting of the “state tree” was as woke as you’d expect.
Native American chanting? Check.
Refusal to say the word “Christmas”? Check.
The Magpie Flyer was today year’s old when it learned that Native American chants were part of a traditional Christmas tree lighting.
It’s very nice that the decorations were handcrafted by the mentally handicapped. Looks like they organized the rest of the ceremony too.
We can help you, Gavin. Say it with us: a CHRISTMAS tree.
Just listen to Governor Newsom’s hilariously idiotic speech–he had to tap dance furiously to avoid saying the word Christmas.
Maybe because he knows if he says it he will catch on fire (literally this time).
Here’s actually what he said:
“Thank you for taking your time to celebrate, in the spirit of what Josh was saying, and in the spirit of what Jen [Mrs. Newsom] was saying. To remind ourselves that the spirit of the holidays is about unity, about coming together across our differences, about focusing on what’s right and what’s wrong.
I say this all the time: we are nothing but a mirror of our consistent thoughts. We are what are we focus on ands we find more of. And I think this time of the year it’s appropriate to give ourselves some grace to focus on what finds us together and I begin with Family. I think you think about the holidays this season, it is all about family, as difficult at times as that may be.”
Huh? What?? We thought the spirit of the Christmas holiday was about, you know, the birth of Jesus Christ.
